The XIIth century St Michel Chapel
With the Morgon Pic at the background, the chapel appears, sitting on its islet, from the Serre Ponçon lake.
First threatened by destruction during the dam works it has finally been saved as it is situated above the 780m maximal height of the lake.
The Demoiselles Coiffées at The Sauze du lac
On the left shore of the lake, a footpath will allow you to contemplate these « fairy chimneys”, kind of pyramids topped with a hat, amazing geological phenomenon due to erosion. Impressive by their size one of them is topped by a 300m3 block which weigh 800 tons. This site is listed since 1966 and offers a wonderful view of the Serre Ponçon lake.
The Boscodon Abbey
Crots
Situated on the Crots municipality between Savines and Embrun, this monument from the XIIth century is listed historical monument in 1974, built in a Romanesque style it is a masterpiece of the religious monastic art.
